Cream Cheese Salted Egg Charcoal Cake
Yes, yes and yesss!! It was super delicious.
The sudden urge to make this was all because of my sister. She posted something about wanting to eat this Salted Egg Charcoal Cake. Apparently, there's a company called the Absolut Chocolat that sells this sort of cake. Their salted egg charcoal cake in particular is the best seller (i think), 'The Viral Cake' some might say.
Obviously being a no.1 fan to anything salted egg, I had to try it. And of course to quote mum, "the best food are always homemade". So yea we decided on making it ourselves. Not only its cheaper, but you know what you're consuming. The initial recipe we followed was from this YouTuber (Check it out). SADLY low and behold we didn't have all the ingredients because - did I mention it was all impromptu!! it was really the sudden urge like drop-everything-and-start-baking kind of thing. But I guess its all meant to be. If it wasn't for the lack of ingredients, we wouldn't have found ways to substitute and COME OUT WITH THE BEST RECIPE EVER!!
The creamy salted egg sauce is just ahhhh yummm, and combining it with the steamed cake is just ugghhh -- the best combo. I can't even explain how in love I am with this cake. I'm definitely making it again in the future. Also, I believe everyone's taste buds are different, which means you might not like it as much as I do, maybe you prefer it saltier or sweeter or anything like that. Which is why it's so much better to 'homemade'! You can adjust the taste to your liking. Want the sauce to have stronger salted egg taste? Add more Salted Egg Yolk then.
